Reference to an on-site marker found in Chronicles Of Oklahoma Volume 38: Notes and Documents section (PDF):
CHITTO HARJO, CREEK PATRIOT: Grave here. Died April 11. 1911. Age 65. Called "Crazy Snake," he led against allotment of Creek lands. Fearing "Snake Uprising", U. S. deputies went to arrest Harjo who eluded them. He came away wounded, and died here in the home of a Choctaw, Daniel Bob.Since this is a listing for an on-site marker from 1959-60, more research is needed to make sure marker is still there.
Location of marker: In McCurtain County. about 5% miles southwest of Smithville, in the yard of the present R. E. Boyer home (Sec. 3, T. 2 S., R. 25 E.), just south of the big tree standing near the front fence.
