* Information from the Oklahoma Historical Society

OHS' listed directions are wrong. US-69 doesn't go through Salina, it goes N/S through Pryor. OK-20 goes through Salina.

From a 1983 Oklahoman news article: "Jean Pierre Chouteau Bridge and Highway, Mayes County, Grand River west of Salina on State Highway 20. Chouteau is claimed to be the founder of the first white settlement in Oklahoma near what is now Salina."
