Filling in Choctaw County

Choctaw County is located in the far southeast corner of the state just west of McCurtain County along the Texas state line.
My research has definitely showed me some of the rich history the county has to offer. Did you know its the location where the last Confederate general surrendered? Did you also know its the home to the first Oklahoma woman to enlist in the Women's Army Corps during World War II?
One great historical resource I found was Choctaw County Oklahoma GenWeb. Be sure to check it out, it's well worth the read.
I found online information on just about all the markers we have listed in our database except one: Pine Ridge Mission. If you have any information about that marker please let us know by posting in our Forum.
All this research on Choctaw County has definitely made want to get down there for a visit. It wouldn't be my first time visit to the area. I have fond memories as a child of attending a bluegrass festival near Hugo with my grandparents. Just to put when I was last down there in a time frame, I clearly remember reading a newly released "Raiders of the Lost Ark" comic book on the ride down.
