Sea to Sea By Model T
As Carleta and I traveled I-40 between Clinton and Elk City, we saw to our surprise, a group of Model T Fords traveling down historic Route 66. Later in the day, we saw two Model T's at the Route 66 Museum Complex in Elk City and the owners informed us that the Model T Club of Southern California was staying at the Holiday Inn in Elk City.
We hurried to the hotel and saw about seventeen Model T's in the parking lot surrounding the building. The owners were visiting each other and making repairs to the vehicles. We introduced ourselves and took pictures and talked with the members and got the story.
The Model T Club of Southern California (www.mtfcsc.com) is a group of Model T enthusiasts that traveled the throughout the United States and Europe. They travel by Model T's and drive to most locations. Overseas, they ship the cars by freight, and travel by land. The members told me that they been to Germany, Switzerland, and several other countries.
This year, they are celebrating the 100th birthday of the Model T's, They started in Baltimore Maryland, on May 3rd, 2008 and is traveling historic Route 66 for the most part and ending in Los Angeles, California on May 28, 2008.
