Oklahoma City defends its status as state capital
On Nov. 6, state voters rejected by a margin of more than 50,000 an initiative by Guthrie to overturn a previous decision to move the capital to Oklahoma City. Bickering between the two cities waged throughout the year, but Oklahoma City racked up a growing list of endorsements as leaders showed they were ready to fund and build a new capitol building. Election returns showed the initiative failing in every county except Guthrie-based Logan County.

‘Teddy’ courts Oklahoma voters
